Hi all, currently have a 2500k running at 4.0 GHZ.

And two 6870 Hawk's running slightly overclocked.

Run's most games fine at ultra but anything using over 1GB vram and of course it's no good.

Do you think it's worth selling these either as a pair or seperately and buying a 2GB card? will I be able to get similiar performance of these in CF with the added bonus of 2GB Vram.

Looking at AnandTech GPU Bench (and assuming perfect scaling which of course is not the case), it seems that you could get comparable or better performance by upgrading to a 7970 and giving it a bit of an overclock.

However, like it has been for the past few months, the best bang-for-buck card is the 7950. If you can find a nice unlocked version of the 7950 you should have no trouble surpassing your current performance and having a much smoother and hassle free experience.

The best benefit of this upgrade would be that you would have 3GB of vRAM which means you'd be set for at least the near future unless you started dabbling with 2560 multi-monitor situations.

If you're satisfied with the performance, then keep them. 6870xfire is a powerful set-up (shame you don't have the 2gb models). If you're wanting to push the highest settings a little further, then sell them and as said, something like a 7950 is a great call.

Very satisfied with performance in fps terms I get ridiculous numbers, but I know BF'4 and Arma 3 are going to require more VRAM.

Having a few problems with hitching which apparently i've heard is a problem of running out of vram.

As a 6870 Crossfire setup is still worthy I would stick with it, but as you are running out of VRAM on top settings the best option without losing a few fps would be the 7950 boost.
