Should I upgrade?

Hi,

I currently have a RAdeon HD 5850 and looking to upgrade to the Radeon R6 280X Gaming edition (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-225-MS)

Would you in my position Upgrad?

depends on your CPU but if its a q6600 overclocked or a I series cpu HEELLL YEAHHH its like more than twice as fast than the 5850

I have an I3 overclocked to 4.6 GHZ (4 cores due to overclocking)

Its 4 threads mate but its got nothing to do with oveclocking just so you know for future reference

Ah right , I know little about CPU's, I bought this computer at overclockers so I didnt get the peices myself

Used to have an i3 (forgot the model but was the one before SandyBridge came out) bottlenecked a 580 as **** @4.2, therefore I would think that without doubt, that your one would fairly bottleneck the new GPUs. At the end of the day, i3 is only a dual core with HT.

yeah i3s are 2 cores 2 threads per core.

I don't know if the 7970 or 280x will throttle with that cpu I don't think it will IMO

someone will shoot me down if im wrong.

remember you can always get a 7970 and save some more pennies as they are similar cards

The new 280x are cheaper
