Should I use this PSU or not?

My PSU recently died, a AX850, I have managed to borrow an Alphapower ATX-850L. I can't find out anything about this PSU online and I am worried that if I use it that it might take out my components. I have a 3930k, P9X79 Pro, 16GB DDR3 2133 and an old HD 4870 1GB.

I would avoid.

What are looking to-do with your system long term?

What do you mean? I plan on using my system and upgrading it in parts, the next of which will be a new Graphics card, most likely the GTX 880. Then a 7930k (Or what ever they call Skylake-E).

Also, as for the RMA I haven't actually sent it off yet as I was told this PSU cost £100. Finally the ATX-850 is different to the ATX-850L, there is absolutely nothing on the L version so Google just beings back the ATX-850 when you search.

I would wait for the corsair. Failing that just get a new one and then sell the corsair once you have it back.

I was going to recommend some PSU units, but I wanted to know what you were dong with your system so I could recommend some decent units.

But I re-read your post and realised that the PSU was a stop gap.

Send the RMA ASAP? They'll give you a brand new ax860 in return. Cost you a hefty bit posting it tho... Should post back with cost and measurements of the parcel as I'm interested in case I ever need to rma

Will do, I have asked this exact question I a ticket I created (it doesn't help that there website doesn't work though).

Cool.

You'll get a response, usually, next day. Corsair are known for their good products and even better service. You should do some googling for cheaper international rates, some people say parcel force can cost as little as 12 but when I price check its around 30. GL :)

Another thing about the PSU is that I tested it again and before it would take a while before the PSU would power up, although now it happens within a few seconds. I would guess that this is before it has been off for the past two weeks, just a bit worried that when I send it back Corsair will deem it to be working.

I think I read a similar post the other day, except the guy was Australian.. never did find out what happened... mystery.

Corsair is most likely to replace it for you anyway if you have compatibility issues, they even do this for RAM and other components. Not 100 percent sure but its better than nothing.

Haven't you tested it on a seperate PC?

I tried jump starting it, didn't do anything.

Yep, I think I've read your numerous threads then. Hah! You should try and make less, but I'm not one to speak... :D

I would still RMA it anyway, or review your other options; of which there are practically none.

Corsair does offer advanced replacement, but I am unsure if this is available in the UK or not. I'm just hoping that they will pay for postage, this is one of there premium products after all.
