Hi Guys

Currently got a 5600X CPU and a 2070 super drivng a pair of AOC 144hz 1080P screens.

I play a mixture of stratagey games and first person shooters (cyberpunk, about to start space marine 2) Not particularly into competitive esports games, just like eye candy in games.

I've been thinking of getting a 5700x3d 4K screen and upgrading my graphics card.

5070 is available for £530
5070 TI is available for £750, £20 over MSRP
9070 XT is available for £690 £120 over MSRP

Supply looks to be getting better in general, should I wait another few months for the GPU market to sort itself out?
 
Personally I'd stay with 1440p. Less demanding on hardware.

If all games were as efficient as Doom Eternal sure go 4K, but with 9070XT with UE engines you'll get <100fps at 1440p...so with 4K that'll be lower
 
One thing for sure, it is a long time until new and better GPUs come. So that would mean time to buy is now.
But what direction supply and prices go, anyones guess.
5070 dropped below MSRP quicker than any Nvidia card before. 5070 Ti not too popular either.

GPU budget? What PSU do you have an its age?
 
I'd not touch a 5060ti for 4K if the use case was AA or AAA games, even with moderate settings with an expectation of 60fps.

I barely manage on a 4070 with DLSS performance/balanced on some newer things, but I have the luxury of switching between a 4K and 1440P ultrawide.

If aiming for 4K the bare minimum cards I'd consider would be the 5070ti and 9070XT.

If you do get one of these I'd recommend the 5070 TI

Normally I would recommend the 9070 XT, but seeing as you prefer strategy and eye candy the 5070 TI takes it thanks to better ray tracing and ray reconstruction etc

The 9070 XT would be better if you're into games like CoD because it performs a lot better in CoD for some reason. It would also be the better choice if both cards were MSRP

Going from a 2070s both of the GPU's listed will give a massive lift in performance, my personal preference would be the 9070xt as FSR4 and been seen you look amazing.

the MSRP of the 9070xt is £599, given it performance and where is sits when compared the NV i think paying £690 is very good, there will be a few price adjustmants as stock becomes better but i dont see it been £599 anytime soo with the new world trade war i would expect prices to go up if anything

I would agree if you are the type of person who refuses to use DLSS/FSR and want native only. Otherwise for better image quality go 4K and use performance profile.

Your are right but the 50 series has been having lots of bad driver issues on a whole horde of titles

the £750 model does have a bottom of the range cooling solution which may or may not be an issue it depends on how important lower temps are and less fan noise are

the best way is to check clips of people playing all the games he enjoys on both

I've got a seasonic prime px 1000w (was provided as an RMA replacement for my 6 year old Seasonic Platinum SS-1000-XP)

GPU budget £700 without really thinking about it, up to £1200 if its providing better value per £

Wasnt the original MSRP of the 9070xt £570?

5070 is £499 at OcUK
5070 Ti available to order from £729 at OcUK.
9070 XT is in stock from £690 - correct, there was a batch of Pulse yesterday at £660 but sold out.

We hope to have another batch of Pulse and Reapers landing within next week which will be £650 ish.

MSRP is always in dollars, and the exchange rate is always 1 to 1
Some people always make the assumption that we use the really world exchange rate with MSRP but it just never works like that

if you shop round you can get some very good deals on the 9070xt it is defo a GPU to seriously consider unless you can budget a 4090/5080 level GPU
if you not playing competitive games and just was eye candy like you say then no matter what you pick DLSS/FSR will be getting use.

Ray tracing will always go to NV as a big win, but it to the most part needs one of the higher end GPU to really enjoy it, if you need to have DLSS on high to enjoy a game at a good frame rate then the quality of RT is going to be impacted.

long story short for value but still an amazing GPU 9070xt end of, for bells and whistles RTX 5080

i paid £630 to ocuk for a 9070 none xt haha
