Should I wait for Ivy Bridge?

Totally frustrated with my current laptop. I had a Portege R500 which is now in pieces and using a heavy clunky Tecra M5 instead.

What I really want is an ultra portable - but if I buy something currently available will I regret it in a few months time when Ivy Bridge emerges?

Ivy should run cooler and use less energy, all good for battery life, and especially useful if you use it like a laptop should be used
