Should I wait?

Hello guys

1st time posting in this part of the forum and really need ya help - I havnt a clue about laptops tbh.

Im going to be joining the navy in about 6-8 months time, and was wondering when/if the new laptops would be coming out with dx10?

Basically i dont mind spending a bit more on the laptop so it lasts me most of the duration in the navy. Playing games with good gfx would be brilliant.

Also, im not bothered about any HD-DVD or Blu-Ray drives either - im guessing at a screen that small it would be hard to notice the difference from a DVD.

Any body know any info on this?

Well there are the newer 8700 gfx cards that are coming out - are they any good? What kind of desktop gfx card would they equal?

Also, i would go for the 8600, looking on here I was quite tempted by the vostros - but the DDR2 ram has put me of somewhat.

Nothing wrong with DDR2 RAM, most desktops use it at the moment, I know the Vostro I'm getting is gonn have DDR2

Nah i meant DDR 2 ram in the gfx card mate - the norm is DDR 3 and even DDR 4 is out now.
