Hi there, I managed to snap the L-shape on the SATA port of my hardrive, luckily none of the fins were broken but a bit bent so I straightened them out and have had to balance my SATA plug into the right position using Blu tack as the locking mechanism won't work now

The computers working fine no problems, but I'm just wondering whether a solution like this is temporary or there's a better way of solving the problem :(

Thanks for reading

getcarter's right- hard drives are so cheap that it's not worth paying to fix them. Granted while your hard drive still hangs in position it's fine, but bear in mind that the moment it stops being able to balance via blu tack, your hard drive is rendered unusable and everything on it is gone.

I'd get yourself a new one as soon as you can, so you can save whatever's on there.

Does RAID 1 automatically mirror once you enter boot in those settings? I'll probably get a second drive to mirror the first just in case It goes. That'd be the wisest thing to do from your guys advice.

I also assume it's as easy as putting a setting in the BIOS as my Mobo is raid compatible?
