Should OCUK forums go subscription only?

I think the ocuk forums should go subscription only, say access for 30 days for £4.99.

This would surely get rid of all the kids and morons leaving only the good people left to post and make a telling contribution.

The added revenue could be used to discount products and run high quality competitions for the remaining high brow users left.

Not the best idea I've ever heard to be honest, and trolling on here is hardly an issue. It's not common and people are dealt with relatively swiftly.

No it wouldn't. The thing that makes the forums great is it's sizable, majority British membership. There's nothing else like it on the interweb. You get the odd issue now and then but they're soon weeded out. There's very little that could be done to improve the forums imho

Seriously though, making people pay for access tot he forums is like making people pay for wikipedia. There's a wealth of great knowledge that would deplete on a daily basis because fewer people will be willing to pay.

However, a point system like yahoo answers wouldn't be too bad if implemented properly. eg, after 20k posts you don't have to wait 10 seconds to search
