Hangtime did mention a subforum which I think would be the best option entirely. The problem is, as he mentions, subforums are not that common around here so we would have to see about that but one for "Deals" would definitely make sense.

A subforum would DEFINITELY get my vote.

Personally, I see no harm in having both as I can see why some would prefer to see them all in one thread. This way, everyone is happy.

I prefer separate threads as I see no point going into the *** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread *** on the off chance there is something I might be interested in.

Whereas, If I see a thread named "Game ABC - £1.00", If I like the game, I click in the thread, if I do not, I leave it alone, no harm done.

If we vote to keep both, then I think it should be agreed that if someone if posting a deal in PCG then they or someone else simply quotes the thread in the Daily Deals Thread so they can be archived/aggregated.

This has arose after I waded into the Daily Deals thread with my size 12's and said "thread should die", the locals got upset so would be nice to hear what the majority of the forum think in a democratic, civilised manner and avoid any further problems.

There's no reason to have both. There's also no reason to have individual threads when there's already a deals thread that seems to work perfectly well.
 
I must admit I do miss deals sometimes when it's in the main thread however having single seperates can get messy just look at what happens with the gog thread. People post gog stuff outside of it :p
 
I'm sure we had this discussion before and the decision was made to go with the daily deals thread.

I know where you are coming from regarding missing some deals rather than perusing the deals thread however I've just got into the habit of checking it when I come into the games forum, which is most days.

The ideal solution would be a subforum specifically for deals which could have individual posts but not clutter up the main forum. However, subforums are extremely rare and I can't see the moderators going for it - I don't think we've had one since soon after WoW was launched?
 
Yes, a subforum would be appropriate seeing the scale at which digital distribution is now taking off and deals are now becoming the "norm" and much more frequent compared to the days of physical media.

Have added it to the options should a mod make a pole.

Subforum gets my vote.
 
Separate threads is a stupid idea, a lot of deals will go unnoticed and disappear. The Daily Deals thread is enough simply because it's all it one place.

A sub-forum will just lead to each seperate deals topic becoming the discussion place for that game meaning the official threads on the main forums will get less attention.
 
Stickied topic for deals? No.

Either the way it is now or a subforum. Actually a subforum is a brilliant idea! If **** football can have an entire forum based around it on OcUK, then surely a forum for amazing deals should too!?
 
I vote for subforum. I often miss deals on the main thread. the most annoying being Anno 2070 for half price. Hopefully that will re-appear in the summer sales.

I think it would be a great subforum. Top of the pile, have a look every day, with the proviso that, obviously, only one thread per deal. So check before you post. That will allow me to have a quick scan down the page to see if there's anything I fancy.

Pretty sure there was a vote before to get rid of all the spam that was cluttering the forum up and stick it in the one thread in the first place. :confused:

Deals are so common in the gaming world that you'd be looking at many multiple threads per-day, that linger for a few days on the front page, as we used to get.

One thread also.... it's too easy to ignore/miss titles if loads are stacked up in a different forum.

If all in one place you get to peruse them all + the associated conversations.
 
a lot of the time the deals from the daily deals thread are the same deals but just from a different website. That is not worthy of a subforum in my opinion. The daily deals thread is easy to keep track of, iv yet to miss any deals posted as its only updated with a few deals each day, sometimes none at all!

So keep it as one thread! Maybe have it stickied, for people who cant be bothered to search a page for the thread.
