I have added an older nicam tv card to my PC.
All my sound from my PC currently goes via an opitcal cable to a DAC and then my amp.
Perhaps I have misunderstood the way this works, but I was under the impression that if I fed the output from the TV card to the line in or mic in, then the PC would do the conversion and pass it in digital guise to the DAC......but nothings doing.
The TV card is definitely giving out sound, and if I use the line out on my sound card along a regular analogue cable...its fine. I'd really like to get the sound through the DAC. Not that it will offer any improvement as such, but because I have only recently trunked all my cables in, and it would a real pain to undo it all.
I know Mappers do a converter for just over £20, but I would be interested to know other peoples opinions.
