Should TV camera be allowed in the courts?

Just watching Sky News, their head of news, John Ryley, is proposing that the Judges' sentencing remarks are broadcast in order that the public understand why the sentence was given.

As I understand it, the actual trial would not be broadcast, correct me if I am wrong though.

I think this is a step in the right direction.

What exactly is wrong with just quoting the sound bites from the sentencing?

We don't want to adopt the American courts system where every god damn celebrity that attends court for some minor indiscretion ends up being televised.

no. i wouldn't want to see this. i think quotes are enough. some things are just not meant to be on TV

No, hard enough as it is getting into the court building when the TV cameras are outside.
