Should we move to Oz?

The wife has been offered a good job in Oz (Head hunted). We have a choice of Melbourne or Brisbane, 5 year contract, fully sponsored, which is a good thing as we are otherwise ruled out by age.

What are peoples thoughts? anyone lived or worked there before? We only returned to Europe in 2021 after 10 years in Vietnam, so not really settled yet, but hadn't anticipated another move. This one will be different too, we will be leaving our 19yo daughter in the UK, though she is very easy about that. I won't plan to work, so will be looking to meet people, get into other activities etc.

Melbourne or Brisbane? any advice? would really appreciate knowledge and experiences.

I guess we will probably go, though I don't think the Oz economy is as good as it once was, just a long way.

Thanks all, any recommendations as to good districts to live in both? we are more 'city people'. the idea of living outside the main urban areas will be a bit of a non-starter. once the wife says yes, then apparently they have a relo department who will handle everything, but obviously knowledge is better than just going with the recommendations.

final discussions are still to take place re. the package so we will see what is available.
