I have the single bay version

The software is prety good - but the novelty wore off and now i just install the software and leave it to do its thing.

yeah i know what you mean, i had a single bay iMon vfd, too many features for me, and i barely used it, would be much more useful in a HTPC, so i'm looking to sell it. i'm interested in the alpha cool more because it seems more useful for me - temps etc. wondering what else it can show.

You can set it up to show more or less anything you want, inc winamp, network stuff, fraps, - even read your emails.

Download the software and have a play - it works on screen without the actual unit.

I've been thinking about buying something like this myself and was pretty much set on getting the larger Alphacool model until I saw the Matrix Orbital GX Typhoon. It's only a single bay display and costs more than the larger Alphacool but it does have an IR receiver built in and the possibility to add expansion boards such as a fan controller.

Not sure which to get now.
