Depends on the tea being brewed as well.

When I have milky tea it's often with Ceylon bags, tastes great but Traditional Afternoon bags taste better with less milk. If it's leaf tea then the taste is purely on how much I put in and how long it's infused for. Milk only changes the taste by a small amount (green top).

Weird, black tea shouldn't taste bitter. Bad tea would, yes, but there are a tonne of black teas which taste very smooth.

Starbucks mug came today but sadly it's got a fine crack on one part of the top on the inside of the glass. It's also got a small bump faintly visible where the glass had been blown by whoever made it and that's where the crack is.

I've contacted Starbucks through their web form and asked for a replacement :/
