That's what the bike should be, no point in polishing and drying it or not going out because its raining.
BTW I bought 1 day insurance for my dad's 250hp 9-3 Turbo, its so fun!

I really can't imagine in how much trouble a 200hp bike can get you in, you floor it and in no time you get 3 digit figure on your dashboard.
It would have been much cheaper to have you added to his policy as a named driver.

I think the 1290 SD is geared quite low, unlike litre sports bike which can do 90mph in first gear.

My dad's 2015 R1 does 100 in 1st, yes it's as crazy as you'd think. Saying that my R6 does 100 in just under 7 seconds
Like most motorbikes these days, very plastic feeling. The thing I don't like about both the BMW and KTM is the crunchy feel to the switch gear. Much prefer Japanese stuff, just feels more solid/better built.
Other than that the attention to detail on the engine/frame etc is very good. No complaints really.
As for sound? KTMs sound like lawnmowers (on steroids) and Ducatis sound like tractors..
This is my first twin engine since I owned a RD350LC in '91. I'm an IL4 guy, the engine in my S1000RR.. I just love the noise it makes, be it idling or revving. Also the 675 STR I had, very grunty sounding for a small engine.
I am going to order the decat this week, judging by a few youtube clips it'll be very, very loud. I don't like my neighbours anyway

Nah, the throttle works both ways.
2015 S1000RRs are dynoing at 190-200bhp at the rear wheel, but I guarantee a rider could pass their test and jump straight on mine and be confident within 10 minutes. We like to think we must have epic riding ability to even swing a leg over these things things, but we're kidding ourselves.
That's the real magic of modern litrebikes, that they can offer such performance but be so accessible.

My Hornet would land me in a lot of trouble with 3 digits before I knew it if I floored it. A litre bike is on a whole new level

Even that little ZX7R I had could get you banned if you sneezed whilst holding the throttle.
When on a Private race track my mate owns I'd Boot it & maybe get up to 4th & starting feeling it so look down at the clocks & are at Ridiculous speeds. Good thing about my Cruiser is you can proper rattle & have some fun without doing those ridiculous speeds.

Picked up my winter hack
Ever since I roadtested the SuperDuke 1290R earlier this summer I wanted one, I just couldn't justify the outlay of brand new, so I picked up a near new one, just over 4 months old, loaded with powerparts and evotech bits.. (£1200 worth)
Just going to get a decat pipe (and maybe an Austin Racing end can, not too keen on the Remus, but it'll do for now) and a few crash protection bits for it.
Lovely bike, but you didn't have the XR for long? I'm considering the XR and the Superduke GT as my next bike.
