That's good. mine is good as gold, he just chills on the sofa when I'm out as I have a web cam so I can see what he's doing... he doesn't touch anything that's not 'his' toys, so I can leave anything laying around with confidence it's not gonna get chewed unless it smells like chicken, then all bets are off!

Think we're hitting the point of accepting we need a final visit to the vets. It's been coming for a few months and after losing his hearing, he's steadily losing sight as well and just generally really confused all the time. It's difficult as when we're sat on the sofa with him and he's sleeping i think he's perfectly happy, but when we're doing things he follows us around and then loses us and seems to just stand (barely able to stand up) staring at a wall.

If he just slept, or lay down near us i think we'd keep clinging on as we don't want to lose him, but looking at his head hanging down and his back legs collapsing under him as he tries to stand up makes us think he's really suffering. Recently he's been getting up around 4am and just standing outside our bedroom door. He seems to settle once he's in our bed so it's not like he needs the toilet or anything. I think he's just confused and then gets really anxious/scared.

Can't imagine our lives without him. Although my wife does love to tell him i didn't want him and didn't love him for the first 18 months of his life. I'm the classic case of man not wanting the dog, but the dog now being my baby!

Think we need to just ring the vet to make an appointment for around 2-3 weeks. He's getting worse byt he day and i think we're close to the point of being selfish because we don't want to lose him. Making a decision for the future helps us come to terms with it a bit. Luckily the vet is mobile and comes to the house which i'm hoping will make it a slightly better experience.

Relatively old picture of said dog from when he was relatively happy doing what he does best and getting in the way and making everything a bed

Dolly, our Boxador/Staffador (who knows?). She's a rescue that was used for breeding by the looks of it and then dumped. She is absolutely brilliant. We had to travel to Basingstoke to collect her as nowhere local to us would rehome a dog as we have a young'un in the house. The lady that fostered her has a grandson and she was lovely with him so they were more than happy for us to take her. She's brilliant with our son, won't cuddle with us much but will happily lay on him or vice versa.

Thought i'd update on Frank whilst passing through, he's now 54cm at the shoulder & just passed 25kg.

He's teething & cost us £60 this week as he was proper struggling so took him for a checkup as he kept crying, seems all is normal though.

He's now only crated if we leave the house & otherwise has complete freedom. I can see the Cane Corso coming out in his personality now, he likes to spend his days sat in one of the bedroom windows or on the back of the sofa taking issue with passers by, if we invite someone in though he's all over them like a Labrador.

We've noticed if we tell him to get in his crate forcefully he objects however if we sit down on the floor & ask nicely he just wanders in, strange dog.
