Show us your kitty cats

Since moving to the country our Archie has decided he needs to prove he is a l33t mouser and we're currently averaging him presenting us with 3 to 4 voles a day. Going to end up with a wheelie bin full of dead animals.

Get some puff pastry and you could make fresh voleovants.

Ava.

Rescued 10mths ago. Starved and practically feral.

Now one of the most loving cats I've owned. She still has her antisocial moments but she just goes off and hides in a corner.

Going to pop to the vets this morning and ask about cystitis as i notice Whiskey was trying to do a wee frequently this morning, about 10 times in 30mins with only a drip or two of wee.
He's no more vocal i don't think and otherwise he seems fine, his tail is up, he was playing as normal and had a usual loopy moment last night. He also let my other half give him a prod around around his belly and nether-regions, figured he'd let us know if there's any pain, but he just rolled back like the soppy tart he is.

But i figured i best be safe anyway. I assume it's treated just with antibiotics?

They give an anti-inflammatory jab and then anti-biotic type medication for a week (I think)

I just treat Lola's myself now, with cystophan which you can buy cheaper than from the vets, so can't remember what the exact treatment from the vets is.

welcome to the cystitis club :D

hugos still on cystese and c/d urinary food. been having problems with it for about 6 months on and off now. had antibiotics, xrays, ultrasounds, needles into the bladder etc.

He's going in to the see the vet at 10:30 this morning.
Thanks for the tips on Cystophan, i'll see if i can get some for the future as this appears to be quite common after doing some research.

id get a diagnosis first to be honest, could be crystals or a blockage rather than cystitis. the vet will check for that (gives the poor guys winky a squeeze  ).

Aye headsup mate, cytophan and cystease are available FAR cheaper online and dont need a prescription IIRC.

My insurance got charged I think it was £140 for a tub of Cystease, even tho I told them I could order the exact same thing online for £55.

"unless it's come from the vet we wont pay you"

muppets :(
a 3 days stay for the daft fur ball cost almost £700 thank **** I had insurance

They're both on Sanabelle urinary now, I get mine from zooplus.
The membership schemes well worth signing up for, I know 3% doesnt seem like much but it sharp adds up :)

ours gets stress induced cystitis as well, apparently something to do with being a bit of a genetic throwback. Went through all the hell of getting his urine tested (plastic ball cat litter is damn horrible!), ultra sounds etc :(

Now he gets a half and half mix of Royal Canin urinary s/o and dental biscuits for breakfast and normal wet food for tea. When he's in the cattery he gets the Royal Canin Urinary Wet food and normal wet food alternately.

We also keep an eye on the colour of his litter and if its getting too dark he gets his wet food topped up with a little water :)

So Whiskey has cystitis. The vet gave him a once over (he's 4.6Kg!!) then a jab of painkiller (anti inflammatory) and antibiotics. We have some anti inflammatory painkiller liquid stuff to put on his food and some antibiotic tablets.

He is 2 years old and has never had it before, but late last year he stopped eating wet food and only really likes dry. So i will see if we can get him on some wet, will take a while as he's very fussy.

He has fresh water two or three times a day upstairs and down, so water is readily available.

We'll see how he goes.

He wasn't a fan of being removed from his catnap and dumped with the scary vet lady :(

The vet mentioned those plastic balls for testing if it persists.

That's also a good idea adding water to food, might try that.
