2011 Volvo C30 T5, 16k miles, 5 dealership service history stamp, 2 owners.

Like the look of the C30 T5 but most reviewers says that it just doesn't have the excitement of the Focus.

Get that thing mapped! :p

I'm really starting to like the C30 shape, seem to be pretty decent performance wise too.

Is it an R Design or SE?

R-design. :)

It also don't have the boy racer image of a Focus either :p

That said, I don't mind really, it's a step above my Yaris, and double the BHP.

2011 C30 R-Design T5?

Needs remap, phat zorst, lowering springs, fake BBS, wind deflectors and mad tintz m8! ;) :p

What colour is it?

No modification...at least not immediately, the car is totally stock as of now.

It's in red, not my first choice of colour but hard to find a T5 on the market nevermind one with only 16k on the clock with all Volvo stamps.

That will be a facelift car? They look nice, but totally impractical with that stupid rear hatch.

It is the facelift car.

Agreed about the boot, it just mean I won't be able to use my large pelican case with it, not really a problem as that is really heavy and I have been moving towards my smaller Thinkthank case again to minimise risks of hurting my back lifting the big pelican case. In fact I have shot my last 2 weddings using the smaller pelican case because they were aboard and need to be hand luggage size. I am also am used to a small boot, the Yaris boot is also tiny.

Other than that, the car ticks all the boxes.

I have looked at other cars, BMW 1 series, 3 series, Audi A3, S-Line, Golf and even entertained the idea of a Citroen DS3. In the end I couldn't find any BMW I liked for £10k (my budget), at least not without it being newer than my Yaris with lowish miles. Most £10k BMW I find are around 50k miles and most 1 series don't have Xenons and half don't have M-sports seats. Not to mention it seems the majority of used 1 series are Diesel engines, small 116 or 118 for that matter. I average 8k miles a year so I really don't need or want a Diesel. The Audi A3 don't like the look of them really, especially they are mostly older pre-facelift models. Also everyone says Volvo seats are the best!

The only downside I would say for this C30 is the lack of USB or Bluetooth, but it does have Aux in so I can still put music in from my phone or I'll just have to put in a Parrot Bluetooth unit in it, I know it will disrupt the interior but a small compromise for a 2.5L turbo engine.

The other good thing.

Currently I pay £215 a year tax, C30 is £290.

Called the insurer to check premiums too, it is £344 now, C30 T5 is £450.

Small difference for a much nicer car.

I really liked my C30 when I had one (it was the pre facelift 2 litre diesel). Boot hatch was silly small but the boot was a decent size. If you can find some, get some Volvo Mirizam wheels from a C70. They really suit the car (Image below) and improve the grip levels due to the wider tyre (215 vs 235).

Most £10k BMW I find are around 50k miles

Curious as to why this is a problem - 50k is not massive mileage on a £10k car and it's also comfortably under the threshold for the cheaper tier of comprehensive BMW warranty.

I'd have ruled out the 1 Series as well, but not for that reason, it seems almost irrelevant.

Him being incapable of parking is vastly different from my Car choices.

Look at him.. On the white lines, Cars backside half in the bay behind him... Terrible!

At least when i park i place it within the bay.

You'll notice the car is slightly wet, has water drip marks on the tarmac below it and that there is a car wash in the background. I had the car cleaned, parked up to get out and take the photos and then got back in and drove off. The car is running whilst the photos were taken :)

What's your excuse for the chav'd up Mazda?

Problem? It's not a problem but merely a preference.

The truth is that everything that I like or want in a BMW is out of budget, I would need at least 30 to 50% more and I am not in a position or want to stretch to that.

Congrats. Nice choice and sounds like a decent one. What made you upgrade from the Yaris?

Had it 5 years, want something more comfortable, quieter cabin, nicer cabin and a touch more power.

Also the Yaris is due service and MOT, with 2 holes in the exhaust due to rust as well as I found out 2 weeks ago. Looked into it, asked a bunch of people and it's not your standard part (I've had this debate with some guy CONVINCED he can repair it cheap and after 3 hours of calling round he came to the same conclusion as my Indy mechanic).

So thought I should change the car now before I have to fix it to pass the MOT.

And I have been thinking changing for the past year, the MOT just put a deadline in it.
