Show Us Your Motors!

On the subject of wood, and apologies for posting pictures of a car I don't own yet (but I'm getting rather excited ahead of the March delivery now...)

We ordered an E-Class in September which, at the time, came with the piano black centre console trim that you can see here. I liked how it looked as it was a contrast and was concerned about more brown wood.

Apparently lots of customers had been complaining that the piano black shows scratches and fingerprints very easily, that it looks cheap, etc. So they changed the spec so that when you order the wooden dash trim, the centre console trim now matches it. I found this out when I revisited the configurator to see if I would get any more options included on an MY18 car; they didn't inform me of this!

My car will now look like this instead:

I'm in two minds now. The wood will be lower maintenance and will still look great in years to come, but I'm concerned that it's now a wood overload.

In general terms I think beige and wood look great though if done correctly, which I think the E-Class does, and the E-Class is essentially an old people car (at least in 220D guise) so I think it suits the car.

In some cars though, or if the wood is too nasty or the beige too yellow, I'm not a fan.

Personally I would have stuck with the piano black trim, but wood is fine as long as it isn't baby poo brown.
I think I would have too, on balance, but I didn't have a choice. That's how it now comes by default from the factory. Apparently you can swap them (at great expense) though, so if I don't like the wood there's always that option.

The gloss black is nice but it's an absolute nightmare for dust and scratches, maybe it contrasts the wood a bit better but they both look good.

She's not a garage queen.

them panel gaps :eek::eek::eek::D:D:D

Good effort, this was mine today :D

I wanted to keep letting it build up for the lols over Christmas but boredom got the best of me today and so it got washed :(

I was tempted to do the same but having nothing to do on Saturday and girlfriend asking me to wash her car ended my zeds rally car life. It's clean again, for now. :D

I thought the Z4 had been sold for a few weeks?

Nope, I put it up for sale a couple of weeks back, had some interest and a couple viewers but snow ruined that and now it's Christmas time and no one seems to be interested. Probably going to keep it, struggling to find a replacement really. It's an awesome car and any time I drive it I can appreciate just how good it is for my needs.

Aww I knew you had it up for sale but I thought it had been sold hence the MX5 comming along.

Sell it, use some of the money to do up/turbo the MX5, it will then be much more fun than the Z4 in about every way possible, and you will have a chunk of change to put in the bank. ;)

Not yet, I'm happy enough with its performance for now. It's not fast but with lsd, suspension mods and chassis bracing it's quite a good fun.

Maybe in the future I'll consider FI on it but not yet.

Supercharge it, then it retains the same characteristics, but with added whine, and more speed when you want it ;)

Have... You... Skidded it yet? :p

It's hard not to.. xD it's so easy to slide it around.. doesn't really fight you back anywhere near as much as the zed does.

They are good fun in that respect. :D

Was driving around in the Corolla the other day. Realising that I've only done 70 miles in the past couple of weeks, and my average was 22MPG cos I've been ragging it everywhere... Made me think... I don't really need anything practical anymore... :p
