Had a couple of quotes for the above damage at around £2000 exc VAT.

Cost was due to needing a new door - they didn’t reckon they could get the door looking as good as before due to creases in the panel, and didn’t want to risk it costing even more if doing privately.
 
Its time to import something random again, was looking for something cheap and v8, so managed to bag a GS460



Had a GS before and quite liked it, although it was the 3.0 so for the money thought its worth trying the v8. Won it this morning but will take 3 months or so as usual.

I did speak to Aviva today though, since they rang me for more information, and they said it would be a pretty straight forward claim as he went into the side of me.

Not necessarily, I went into a van 5 or so years ago, becuaee he decided to chance it at a roundabout and tried to get in front of me, he failed, I hit him, but it went my way and insurance paid out

At this point you just tell teh guy it's £2k+ to repair, does he still want to do this outside of insurance or not. He won't, so you'll go through insurance at which point you just let the insurance company deal with it and there's nothing difficult about it.

Don't stress it.
 
A change of wheels for the 458, did not lose the black fully as it works so well on the car but the diamond finish makes the wheels really pop now:
