Show Us Your Motors!

Started off as your bog-standard 300TDi Discovery. Add a set of 265/75/16 Insa Turbo Dakar tyres, +2" Suspension lift, steering guard, rear arch mods and a side-exit exhaust...

A friend of mine has a '99 V8 Disco, raised 2" with knobblies - unbelievably capable, its been enough to convert me from a previous 4x4 hater. I'd love one, but it'd have to be a V8 :)

Out of curiosity, was is the steering guard?

Branding, Unobtrusive, and quite effective!

And it used to belong to Spamalot on here!

Yep, that's me. Good to see it getting the attention it deserves. I really didn’t pay the paint the attention it deserved when I had it.

When I pluck up the courage and get a DA I'll pop over and we can have a play if you like?

Galvanised steel plate on the front - 8mm steel drop sections off the chassis, 6mm front plate. Keeps the drag link in front of the axle from breaking when you hit big rocks & tree stumps.

Won't be super-early, not if it's a 300TDI

It's a '96. The really early ones were 200TDi's, easy to spot, have smaller headlights (taken from the Maestro van no less!) with black surrounds.

And on the way today, fuel tank guard, diff guards, extended bump stops and rock-slider sills!

Couple more of the Swift in it's fav place, Long weekend in the lake district few weeks ago :)

SNAP!

Phenominal little car for the price. I find the driving position a little high, but you tend to forget that when holding onto the steering wheel flying around bends at warp 8. Awesome fun in the twisty bits.

Did make a thread a few months back about getting one since then I've just done it.

Yup tis a diesel. I'm clocking 18000 miles p/year minimum and cheaper insurance on the diesel suited me a tad better. Not to everyones taste but I much preferred it to the competition i test drove.

Isn't that car available with the really rather good 2 litre turbo petrol engine from the Golf GTi ? ...seems a shame not to have that if it is.

Yep I drove it as well and enjoyed it. Very willing engine IMO but the insurance for my circumstances was not far off £800 extra p/y plus with the mileage I'm doing the mpg does mean something.

Been on a few forums and a remap can get the diesel to 200 bhp without to much significance to the mpg so I've read.

Good job on the Scirocco, I really like these - Just goes to show that you don't have to choose something boring when going Derv. I don't expect it'll be particularly slow with the remap, either.

Thanks mike I'm really pleased with my decision.

Revo remap is £400 and gets you to 200-210 bhp with 330lbs ft not to shabby IMO not rocket ship speeds but not bad really.
