New car :)

Dents in bodywork are super annoying (there are quite a lot - you can only make out one in the picture) but 45,000 miles, lots of history including original invoice (£13,000!) and mechanically/interior wise perfect. I had a little think and decided to get it and sort out the bodywork. The others I'd looked at were similar money but twice the miles and either chavved up or tatty/tired.

I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for panels to replace the dented ones (passenger door, drivers front wing, boot) and then I may or may not get the rear quarters filled and sprayed. Hopefully that won't run me too much.

It's a hoot to drive though, I'm in love.

^ Well Gel

Massive soft spot for them, brilliant little cars :D How much you snag if for if you don't mind me asking? When I was looking back in 2008 () it was 2.5k for a minter (mechanically, no tat) :(

I'd get the rear bushes done, they'll be shagged and it'll stop the back end snapping about, there will be a thread on 106owners about it, think it was about £60 in parts to sort it.

It was up for £1500, I paid £1300. I am horrendous at haggling - I could have had it for £1250 which is what I offered but cocked it up, so I obviously offered too high in the first place! I've a couple of mates who know their 106s and they reckon I did OK price wise so I'm happy.

I'd looked at a few others ranging from £1000-1400, all with twice the miles of this one and all with things wrong with them.

The dents on this are a pain but mechanically this one was far and away the best. No creaks or rattles and it's completely standard. I reckon I can sort the bodywork for sub-£500 with new panels, then have someone fill and paint the little ones on the quarters.

Nice 106 GTI. I'd probably get a dent man out to try and get the worst out of it and leave the rest and just enjoy the car instead. Perhaps put a few quid towards keeping it mechanically tight.

Thanks :)

I'll get some quotes once I've got a bit of spare cash, none of it is urgent though. All the others wanted something or other fixing or replacing, this one's tip top, plan on keeping it that way.

Picked up my new car yesterday, so far loving it.

Hi mate, congrats on your purchase, looks amazing - any pics of the interior if possible? can i be cheeky and ask how much you paid? Im likely to pick up some wheels in the next month or so. Just not sure if i should go for a £10k 350z or a £20k z4!

Now that is absolutely awesome - nice buy!

10 plate as well - so I bet you've saved a packet over that ridiculous £37k idea you had. Infact it looks a bit familiar, it's not that private sale one is it?
