I got burned with recent pre-orders, so I've decided I'm not buying games anymore until there are reviews and/or demos.

True, however I'm quite sure the above are dead certs, apart from Halo 2, but I have nothing to play... so might as well

what's the point of pre-ordering, so long in advance,

Did you n not read the post above + if prices go down, so will your price, so you can only score on the deal.
Nice and easy too, just look for all upcoming games you want and order them, sit back and wait for them to arrive, no need to be looking around a week before release.

Rinse and repeat every year or so

or wait for release and shop about and get it cheaper than the pre-order price, they also do not have to honour the pre-order price although they mainly do.

That, and i CBA with trying to shave a quid here and there off, just get them all in one reputable place, order them all once in a blue moon, sit back and relax... spam forum... etc
