it's the main unit of the home theartre kit, i think those speakers would maybe look better on the floor with the sub behind the stand, good sound system nevertheless

I might try that Dmack, cheers. In all honesty, I've never even thought of that - though I did put them there in the belief that I'd get better sound if they were on a higher level. The sub can't go behind the unit at present cos I've got a PC there. I could be dumping the PC however if I can get the PS3 streaming more efficiently from my Buffalo NAS.

I guess then that the slim doesn't vent out of the top anymore like the phat does then?

If it does, you've butted a vent straight up against a surface :).

We're just waiting on planning, so when that goes through I'm going for whole house audio/HD video distributed from an AV rack under the stairs.. so I'm not buying for the next few months

Going for some in-ceiling B&W speakers for the lounge and the wife has let me turn the loft in to a cinema!!
