I try to fob it off on the wife, friends or grandparents.

Though they do tend to come back with armfuls of sweets, which I can scoff.

Just grabbing a shower now and then off to take them up the road. They're only young so we don't go far and usually only aim for houses that look really decked out. No point disturbing some grumpy old farts

The local youths in black hoodies like to knock on the doors here and grumble "penny for Halloween".

They basically just want beer money. The looks on their faces when I offer them a bucket of mini refreshers and parma violets is priceless. Then I ask if they've come dressed as the local retard and they usually just scurry off.
