Looking to have our ensuite refitted next month, most bits have been decided/ordered but we still to decide on shower. Looking for the following and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations or or advice on brands to avoid.

1) Bar Mixer shower to be powered from high pressure combi, with both overhead and handheld heads, currently have this one on the shortlist - http://www.intatec.co.uk/products/puro-safe-touch-thermostatic-shower-telescopic-riser

2) 800mm quadrant shower enclosures, limited on size so can’t go larger, ideally one with a single sliding door.

Any pointers appreciated. :-)

If it's not to late don't tile shower enclosure use shower panels - best thing I ever did -easy to clean and no grout to go mouldy. :D

Also use car wax on it and water runs straight off.:)

I did consider panels for shower but the room is so small it would look odd to split the wall finish between panels and tiles.

Anyway I'll let the cleaners worry about keeping it mould free. :D

Matki shower enclosures are the best, but you will pay for it. Speak to Paul at PT Ranson, and he will do you a deal. Give him dimensions.

if it is not too late, have you considered a kidney shaped bath with shower enclosure with curved / pivotting shower screen at one end.
I used to think a separate shower enclosure was the only way to efficiently have a shower but new property with above fitting changed my mind.

Somehow I don't think a kidney shaped bath is going to fit into a 800mm sq footprint. :p

OK I thought you had an ensuite with a bath and a shower (when you said still had to decide on shower assumed bath was decided - but you meant wc/basin )

Nah just a shower in this one, bath and shower are in the main bathroom. The other things decided were the loo, basin, and tiles (wall/floor).

Definitely NOT a corner enclosure, not at 800x800 size, I would personally just go for a straightforward square enclosure with a hinged door, as at 800 it's still quite small to have anything other that hinged or pivot, corner would be too narrow to enter, and I would imagine sliding doors the same given not much space to retract etc.

We have this one;

And for the shower, we have this, and it's really good!

(Shop around for the mixer shower of course, I got ours for less than half that listed price)

Don't do what we do and spec a 1200mm small bath instead of a shower enclosure "just so we had a tub still". We mainly only ever have showers in our house and its all well and good thinking yeh you could just about fit into a 1200mm bath but when you actually see one in person they are ridiculously small. Probably only good for bathing pets or babies!

That idea was swiftly binned in favour of a simple 1200x700/800m shower tray/enclosure!

Nice setup you chose

Pulsedriver - with the door opening outwards do get some drips outside afterwards - no ?
(ok can mop that up off of lino/tiled floor, as i do at relations.)
I preferered the 'bifold infold' style, also sold by the company you reference.

- but swings and roundabout, the bi-fold are harder to clean and harder to close when you are inside, also, if you ever slipped in shower (I suppose I do every 5 years or so) infold is more robust ?

Thanks dude!

jpaul - There is a rubber seal that sits on the bottom of the door, the bathroom fitter we used didn't fit the door completely straight, so the seal used to stick on one side as it was slightly lop sided and make it incredibly difficult to open the door (think vacuum seal!) anyhow, we took the seal off, reseated the door (easy as it's only 2 screws each bracket) and I trimmed the rubber seal a little at the bottom, hardly any drips at all when opening the door, especially more so as we tend to squeegee the glass every time we finish from the shower, so there isn't usually much water about.

I do like the bifold style, a lot of newer homes tend to have them in their en-suites, I just preferred the hinged door, call me old fashioned :D
