Shower enclosures

I'm having my bath ripped out and a shower put in the corner instead. Problem is the standard minimum tray size seems to be 760mm, and from my wall (that the bath butts up to) to where the window frame starts is about 610mm. So a 760mm enclosure would block about 5 to 6 inches of the window and nothing to secure that part of the enclosure. I rang my builder who reckons he might be able to get a 600mm tray. I asked him to try and find a 600mm x 900mm. Does anyone know if they exist? Not only that, but I felt 760mm width a bit too closed in so I don't know how happy I'd be with an even narrower width. Anyone here got experience of shower enclosures?

I would just get one that overlapped the window to be honest and learn to live with it. I mean as long as you can open the window and still fix the encloser to something in the bathroom then you would have a larger shower. If you have an issue now with a smaller shower tray then when you have it installed you will regret it even more when its installed.

Well I rang my builder and he said to have a wetroom would mean a vinyl floor because special tiling would be very expensive, and a shower curtain. Neither appeal to me. I have a feeling I'll have to get a narrower window put in and the wall built up to accommodate a shower enclosure.

So all wetrooms have to have a shower curtain? Wtf? And special tiling??

Overlapping the window sounds like it'd look crap too. I'd keep the bath and get a shower over the bath with a shower screen.

Pics of the room would help.

He sounds clueless about wet rooms and doesn't want to do one, so put you off with some bull****.

What are the room dimensions and layout? You don't say, a walk in with a cleverly placed head+screen could maybe suffice.

If you think a wet room could be for you though don't even speak to your builder again, just talk to someone who does wet rooms.

edit: BTW have you looked at how big 600mm is? I'd not be happy with 760mm never mind 600mm - if you want to experience what it will be like get somebody to whip you with a cold wet bin bag and see if you like it.

I also have a tiny bathroom (6'x4') so I am interested in how the OP does their's. Post up pics of it being built :D

My bathroom is only small (about 6' x 5')
I put in a quadrant shower unit (750x750mm or there about) a small hand basin and a small bath( around 5' but we never use it) under the window down the left side of the room

Just what the hell are you doing here. Ripping out your bath so you can replace it with a smaller enclosure than that which you already had? Just keep your enclosure and upgrade the shower pump or something. Your bathroom looks nice.
