Yes, I know the word isn't like around here, but I want a new 'shredder' style guitar for the 80's rock that I play.

Basically I want 24 frets, locking floyd rose trem (not licensed), HBS or HSS config or similar with a fast neck.

I'd like a Jackson Soloist SL3, or even an SL1, but the SL1 in particular is way too expensive. I dont really know the Ibanez range all that well unfortunately. £500 would be a good place to start, some funky finishes would be appreciated also... :p

This isn't a post which answers your question, but I wouldn't rule out any guitars just because they don't have 24 frets. I hardly ever go above the 22nd. Infact I'm struggling to think of many songs that do.

Theres no harm with having 24, but perhaps its not as essential as you might think. Good luck hunting!

Sometimes having 24 frets is a bonus because it gives you better access to the 22nd fret, so even if you don't go "all the way" it gives you a little more headroom :)

Yo ucould do worse than checking out the new Jackson and ESP ranges, there are some decent guitars around now in your price range.

I know what you mean, but I've got already several leccy guitars with 22 frets (Les Pauls, Strats, Teles) but never had a 24 for some reason. It's only because recently I've got into the 80's stuff that I really want a gaymo shredding guitar to twiddle about on. :D

I've been looking at the Jacksons and Ibanezes, but not the ESP's... I'll give em a go
