In my book, Stephen Fry could talk for half an hour about his shopping list and I'd be mesmerised, so the prospect of listening to him analyse himself is a delicious one. I'm less enamoured by clinical psychologist Pamela Connolly, though. Her observations can be intensely irritating, yet, surprisingly, she manages to get Fry talking in a way, he says, he's never done before. The pair touch on subjects such as his manic depression, his homosexuality and his relationship with his distant father, and although for most of the time he's able to run verbal rings around Connolly, just occasionally she trips him up and makes him re-examine his true feelings.
