Shrinking a partition in Windows won't skrew with Linux right?

Yes, it shouldn't be a problem. You can use the Windows Disk Manager (diskmgmt.msc from the cmd prompt) to shrink a NTFS partition - depending on where the files are on the partition. You may wish to defrag the partition first.

Personally, I use the linux boot system rescue disk (sysresccd.org) and use gparted to mess about with partitions. I've never had any problems with it, but I'd recommend backing up important data offline before starting (e.g. to a USB or network location)
