I've got the Shure E500PTH earphones and wondered if anyone actually uses the PTH control, as I find it to be a pretty large piece of kit, with minimal benefit, so don't bother.

Just curious really, as pulling out one phone seems pretty simple, without the need for the control, unless there's another benefit that I haven't thought of.

I use it in work, find it quite handy as to get a good seal with black olive foamies (which are fantastic imo if you havent tried them) I need to squidge them so I can fit them in....annoying if I have to do this all the time when people are only asking me simple questions.

Only trouble I find is the person needs to be quite close to you as the mic picks up a shed loads of background noise, plus its a bit quiet so I end up talking a louder than I need.

I also use the black foamies as well, which are very good and I suppose the PTH could come in handy at work, but I mainly use mine for travel to and from work, so no real benefit for me.

I don't use mine, though I have tried it occasionally and found it worked fine. Just seems easier for me to break the seal on one ear and turn the music off if I need to speak to someone.

To be honest, it seems like something that solves a problem that doesn't necessairly exist.
