Right, well I've worked out that it's not the gfx card fan that is causing the noise. Cos moving it from 50% to the max hardly changes anything.

Hard-drives maybe?

if you still have the stock cooler remove the mesh thats covering the fan ( the one that stops your fingers getting caught up) you will need a small + screwdriver makes abit of difference, but if you want to quieten it more get an arctic cooler i have one and my seagate hdd is the loudest thing in my case now

Do you have a chipset fan on your motherboard?

These are a primary source of noise

They really are... after 7volting case fans, a silent PSU, cpu fan at 70% speed and rubber HD grommets thats pretty much the only thing making noise on mine

Nope, no chipset fans.
After opening it up I'm now thinking it might be my PSU ...but I find it hard to tell.
Adjusting the CPU and Graphics cards fans is not making much of a difference to the loudest noise, although I can hear the change.

stop the graphics and cpu fans completely just for a second with your fingers, if theres still noise then it is either HDs or the PSU

I have almost, the opposite problem.

I have a friend with a Leadtek 6800GT ,like mine, yet when his card goes from desktop to a 3D app such as BF2, his cards fan noticably increases its speed, when I say this, I mean the fan's "noise pitch" rises noticably where I've noticed mine does not.

Am I doing something wrong? - To my ears, my cards not overly loud, certainly not when compared to my friends identical 6800GT (Both Bought last year in the Leadtek sale, on the same transaction.)

Cheers if anybody could shed some light on this for me. :)

Apologies for non technical descriptions! :o
