Hey guys, im having a problem as of 2 days ago.

Im on Windows 7 and 2 days ago when I tried to shut down my PC it did its normal thing and right before the power went off it hung on the black screen, as I went to bed after clicking shut down I didn't get back to it for around 6 hours later but when I tried to work out why the PC wasn't off I was only able to get the black screen, nothing was responsive, keyboard and mouse were 'switched off' at this point.

Since then my attempt to shut down last night resulted in the PC sitting on 'windows is shutting down' screen, I left it for about 10-15 mins before hard shutting it down.

Same just happened today.

My windows install is fairly fresh and recent, I think it was newly re-installed about a month ago and its fully up to date. Its currently on an SSD thats around 4 years old but well within its lifetime and is apparently 'healthy' (according to DeFraggler). Ive tried updating its firmware but its on the latest.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

This happened to me once, let me check my old threads in the morning and I'll see if I can dig anything useful out. :)

Hi again, I just had a look and the issue I had was different to this, it was to do with the PC not waking from sleep. I did also have the problem you are having, but I don't think I made a thread for it! :(

Try disconnecting all USB/other devices and then shutting it down, to see if it still hangs. (you should be able to tap the power button to initiate the shut-down)
