Shuttle Launch - STS 122 Atlantis delivering Columbus

I was waiting for someone to post this. :D

4:31PM EST = 9:31PM UK, so not that late really. :)

And yeah, it was a fast turn-around. It seems Peggy Whitson is a bit of a workaholic too.

I was going to post this earlier but forgot, I'm looking forward to the launch again. The last mission was very interesting to watch, especially the way they managed to repair that solar array they tore when deploying it.

Again, thanks for the heads up - missed the last launch - had a lecture. Never seen an actual launch in progress :O

Launch today, 90% chance of a go for launch.

Its weird because back in the 70s and 80s something like this would have been HUGE, on all the news stations and people all over the world very interested. Now its 2007 and i bet most people dont even know there is a shuttle launch on today.

Space travel has just become a common thing now days and people think nothing of it. Still amazes me though :)

I think it's partly that and partly that they don't seem to be pushing the boundaries any more (with manned missions at least) and there's consequently nothing really to capture the imagination, very similar missions to the current one will have taken place dozens of times before.

Thanks for the heads up. There is something about space and space travel that amazes me. The vastness and shear power of space is unbelievable.

4.31PM EST. I wonder if that means it will be a dusk launch. Could have some lovely video of the bright rockets against a dark blue sky.

I'll also be watching the launch.
I was at the Kennedy Space Centre a few weeks ago (Watched the Discovery landing) and it's seriously got me interested in space exploration.

Sunset is around 5:30pm

Thanks for the heads up, I missed the last launch but will not be missing this one! :D
