dont have the shuttle with me right now

what shuttle is it going on?

i've replaced 2 shuttles with the blue zalman one but their original heatsinks were tiny passive ones

not sure about replacing one with a fan on it. I'd assume it shoul dbe ok providing theres enough airflow. the fact the blue zalman is bigger than most NB heatsinks means it would only require a small bit of airflow if any

Running a SB61G2 with a blue one for almost 2 years.
I have however disabled the onboard gfx card.

put it in working fine

however, it was an intel chipset and didn't have mouting holes, so i had to break the old heatsink to get the mounting lever off the hs, so i could use it on the new one!

What are the two model numbers of these two heatsinks again? I'll just be using the onboard graphics as it'll end up running SBS 2003 R2

its not recommended for NB's with onboard graphics because of the heat output, which is why it's recommended to disable the onboard when using the heatsinks. not able to get a passive card for the agp/pci slot? the blue one is ZM-NB47J and if your shuttle uses the loop clips you will need to dismantle the current NB cooler to get the clip for the new one.

it already runs warm to the touch in a SB75 and SB61 (has onboard graphics disabled) but wouldn't want to try it with it enabled.

They generally work fine with onboard graphics too, i was using the blue tall one with ST20G5 graphics for ages, worked fine but it did get VERY hot at times... Then i watercooled everything and threw an x1800 in which all made a difference!
