After initially leaning towards a sugo, I have now decided to go with a shuttle..
here is what i intend to order:

SD32G5 (£217.37)
Hauppauge WinTV Nova-t - TV - PCI (£45.82)

Logitech Cordless Rechargable Desktop Black/Silver Keyboard + Optical Mouse (£30.14)

2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2 Dominator,DDR2 PC2-6400,240 Pins, NonECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12, EPP (£169.95)

Pioneer DVR-112BK Black 18x18 x12 RAM DVD±RW Dual Layer DVD Writer (Reduced Length) OEM (£22.19)

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300, Socket 775, 1.86 GHz, 1066MHz FSB, Allendale Core, 2MB Cache, Retail (£114.87)

Total £600.34

thinking i will hold off on a gfx card for now, but would be looking at a midrange card - 7950 or 7900.. something that the 250W PSU can handle as well as not take any extra slots.
will standard dvd writers fit or do you need special reduced height ones?
any tweaks or advise/ recommendations would be welcome and appreciated.

thanks
jon

i would consider the the SD37P2 but I am not sure what the pros are other then the bigger PSU and extra sata. didnt think that was worth an extra £100, but if there is more to it then i would definitely swap.
do you have a mid range gfx card in mind that would cope with occasional gaming.
is the 4300 much slower then the 6300?

i really need to RTFM and while doing that realised it didnt have onboard graphics!

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Order Total (inc.VAT inc. Shipping): 739.56GBP

had to pay slightly higher prices as the other site would not accept non UK CC. The other site said they might be delays as well.. meh
really hope it comes on friday..

never put an order in after a long day at work.. thank god i came in here for a browse and you guys pointed it out.
was on hold for an hour and a bit trying to get the order changed.
ended up getting OCZ SPECIAL OPS DDR2-800 2GB Kit for a rather rich price of £207 but they were out of everything else, so no choice.
apparently attempting to add a more expensive item to an order is a very complex problem, hopefully they call back soon to charge me or my hopes for a pc assembling weekend will be dashed :(

oh.. ill be running WinXP for now and maybe a linux distribution

because it didnt have the camo heatspreader... heh
seems like a pretty good deal, but my hands were tied and they were out of stock of every other ddr 800hz memory

and my woes continue.. after fixing up the ram order which then delayed it for over a week.. i try to assemble it and the graphics card is too big!!
and should i be able to get it in, theres no way the tv card will get in..
what are my options?
would i be able to get an aftermarket cooler that will fit?

i would rather not have to deal with the turnaround time..
i either get a new card and sell this one off
or
fit another cooler..
can anyone advise me which cooler would fit with without blocking the other slot. Will the X1950 pro fit as above?

in regards to warranty, i had to dismantle the card to get off the cover to the fan so i could jam it in. Suprisingly it went in and worked.

does anybody know where i might be able to acquire such a cooler?
FrankJH, does that card fit without blocking the other PCIe slot?
if you happen to know the dimensions on the heatsink + fan, would you be so kind as to list it.
cheers

listed the card on Ebay since I dont have access to MM. Anybody interested in a X1950 here can get in touch with me..
so what exactly do I want to buy to get all this to work.
