Shuttle SD37P2 - Dual Core review

no ps/2 connectors? my microsoft keyboard isnt that old..... for some reason it has a splitter from the wireless box that has one usb and one ps/2 :/

ah well.... typical :p

also its a shame shuttle has paid no attention at all to calls for improved audio - yet no doubt they will still charge a huge premium for an incomplete package. :/

this new shuttle does seem to be pretty good. I've been keepin an eye on core 2 duo's for a while now as a possible upgrade path and im likin the look of this shuttle spec wise so far.

as has been said, the audio is gonna be lacking :( and though it has crossfire support, no good if you can only use lower-end single slot cards. the review is right, shuttle should design a heatpipe cooler for them, like they were planning for the 26P

but aside from them, looks to out-do the reference board on quite a few tests and benchies so should perform pretty well :)

lets just hope it hasnt got a stupid price tag, even though we all know it will

My Sli'd SN26P has been visibly shaking for past few weeks awaiting the 37 reviews :)

But based upon the reviews I have read, the continued lack of a PCI slot, and an inefficient onboard NIC, I have to say I feel Shuttle may struggle to demand the premium price for the 1st SFF to support Conroe.

I have all but configured a full sized core2duo system now, and just await the processor, my SN26P will continue to serve me for a good while yet I think, till the next gen graphics cards really unlock the potential of this eagerly awaited cpu.

Sorry Shuttle no sale here :(

Shuttle said they will never do the graphics card heatpipes, the reason: massive customer service support needed for the less tech-savvy

It makes sense.. ask someone who is building their first rig to disassemble their new shiny graphics card and fit the heatpipe and they'd probably look at you with glazed eyes.

On the other hand I think Shuttle should focus on the enthusiast and include these and other much-requested improvements.. they are slowly slipping in my eyes, which is a shame because this is the nicest looking Shuttle to date :(

Excellent been waiting for this, hopefully will be my new rig in time for Uni.

Kind of dissapointed with the overclocking options but thats something that will probably come with time, (bios updates etc.).

Review was pants though, no where near enough on the chassis itself imo.
Like the look of it, the 2xPCI-E doesnt really bother me, as i've always put up with onboard sound (not an audiophile!) and i love having support for dual slot cards (something my 330p really misses :( ). i wonder what biostar have up their sleeves for the Conroe release?

Is this going to be the only Conroe Shuttle for the time being?

I was looking at the ST20P5 before all this kicked off and that seems a much better spec for an audio workstation (built-in graphics, spare PCI slot for my EMU soundcard). Hope they do a Conroe version soon...

they could always offer it as an accessory for the enthusiasts, like the 250watt silenX psu etc. if they did there would be quite a few people who felt confident enough to take their g-card apart that would buy them, but then leaves the not so confident people to still be able to keep their stock cooler

Well thats what they planned originally but Shuttle discontinued the idea after R&D proved that the ICE cooling did a good enough job

In my eyes the heatpipes would be the perfect piece of an already good jigsaw..
