I was thinking about this around Xmas time,
Is the price going to come down or is there going to be a better conroe shuttle by then? (basicly is this the best shuttle)

this is the one.
Shuttle XPC SD37P2 Aluminium Barebones System - Intel Pentium D (LGA775)

thanks

I thought everyone knew about them, I made a thread about those half way through October when they were announced!

They've been available to purchase in the UK since the 23rd, but if I were you I'd stump the extra and get the sd37p2:

More power - 400w PSU, can run a 8800GTX no problem
More compatibility - dual slot gfx cards, quad core is confirmed to work, can hold 3 HD's compared to 2
More performance - better chipset; 975X compared to 945, and it'll last longer - has 4 ram slots and it able to support up to 8GB of ram, as compared to 2 slots and only 2gb support.

I'm THAT close to getting one myself, I have an sn21g5 (same size as the sd32g5) but I'm weary about the size, in pictures it looks just a little big for my liking, I'd like to see one in the flesh first. Does anyone have a P or P2 series shuttle AND a G series shuttle you can put side by side and take a pic from a few straight angles please?

Hi Paramount

Do you have a link for the Quad Core support, being a 37P2 owner myself I'd be interested in reading that!

I went from a SB75 to the 37P2 and it was well worth the move. The system is a lot quieter, probably due to MSI 7900GTO with its heatpipe keeping the fan running slow

cheers guys,

whats the estimated eta on these?
just thinking although its nice £310 is too pricey for what that shuttle is.
:)

Price wise the shuttles arent really THAT bad.

Consider the following:

Good Conroe board = £150ish
Good case = £50+
Average PSU = £50/60
Cables etc = £15-20
Good Heatsink + fan for PSU = £35
Case fans = £10-15

Overall = £310-360

Considering it all comes in a nice small package with cable routing/case tidying etc done for you its not toooo bad :)
Not talking as a fanboy, this is my first and prob my last shuttle (as want to move back to a more cutting edge spec, new job, more pocketmoney) but its a comparrison that does make some sense.
