Hi everyone,
System:-
Shuttle SD39P2
2GB G.Skill 6400 RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4GB
Western Digital 320GB HD
Nvidia Geforce 7600GT
My cube used to work perfectly, and I (foolishly) decided to upgrade it with a Quad processor (Q6600) and a Geforce 8800GT. So I turn off the pc, open it up, swap the processor and put the Q6600 in, add Arctic Silver and fire it up after connecting the monitor, keyboard, mouse and power cable. First thing it crashes with BSOD before entering Windows so I try again after resetting the BIOS to Fail-Safe defaults and then enter Windows in Safe Mode - works fine. Still the same...looks like it wants to work but no display! I’ve tried holding down the CMOS and resetting lots of times but no joy.
Next I turn off the pc, open up the case and swap the video cards, adding the 8800GT. I connect the additional power cord to the back of the card and reconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse and power cable and fire it up. First thing that happens is that there is a long delay between the pressing of the power button and anything happening. Then it fire up - fans are working, green light is on the motherboard, sounds good...but no display.
I’ve tried everything - reset the CMOS, taken out the battery for 30 mins after disconnecting everything, tried the original E6600 processor and 7600GT video card, taken out one of the sticks of RAM, taken out the sound card, tried taking everything out and putting it back in, checked all the wiring inside and out etc.
Can anyone help me? I’m at my wit’s end and I think I’m going crazy! I’m thinking of trying to send it back to Shuttle under warranty as it’s only about 6 months old. Does anyone know what I can do - any ideas how to fix it please?
thanks,
Stewart
