Hi,

Im looking to upgrade my graphics card from an 7800GTX to an 8800GTX or mabe a 9800 series card.

I have a couple of questions.

1. Will it fit? Has anyone got one of these to fit into a shuttle case? (1x PCI-Express 16X, supports Dual-Slot graphics cards)
2. Power? Has the default power supply in a shuttle got enough to power one of these monsters? (SilentX 350 Watt mini PSU with switch, supports 100/240V, PFC)

Any help or tips are appreciated.

Yes to both - Im not a really intensive gamer but have a 24" Dell so reckoned I needed a GTX (old style) and yes it fitted but it was a very tight squeeze, power was never a problem

The newer GT actually seemed to run more smoothly for me - so that could be an option for you too

Thanks .. always nice to see if people have tried this .. the 7800 was abit of a squeze as i had to take out the plastic fan vent for it to fit.

Time to go hunting for a new card :)

8800gt and 8800gts512mb dont seem to work in the sn25p last i heard, so unless there has been a bios update within the last 3 months it may be worth resurching that if considering those cards

Hi - Did you have any luck with this? I have a SN25P with a 7950GT fitted. I was looking to upgrade the grahics card to something newer. I tried a 8800GT I had in a desktop PC but got no output at all. I had put this down to the PSU, so was thinking of ordering a 450W PSU. But on research it may be a PCI-e issue. Any one have any success with a newer card ? Nvidia 9600GT/9800GT - ATI3870 / 4850

Ive had a new 8800GT working in mine since the new release was available with no issue whatso ever - 4850 should also be ok but thats just a guess

Thanks for the info. I ordered a supply and it should be here tomorrow. Accoring to the specs it supports a total of 15+17 Amp on the +12V. Thats 384VA or 384w if the PF was 1. Hope that this should be enought.
