shuttle SN95G5 question

i have one of these at home, and have had for quite some time...

i tried to get it running on a venice 3000+ chip, but it post or boot or anything...

someone told me that with the version 1.0 bios it only accepts newcastle and 1 other type of socket 939 amd64

is this true ? and if so what is the other revision of chip it accepts.

only asking because im selling it to a mate and want to make sure he buys the correct chip

The A64 line in Socket 939 goes Newcastle - Winchester - Venice so presumably it will be the Winchester chip.

You could always try to flash it to the v3 from here as the v3 supports X2s as well so Venice cores would not be a problem.

thing is i's need the system together to flash the bios, since trying and failing to get the shuttle working on a venice core i sold the chip and carried on at uni with my main rig
