Just got this this morning, and its been built all and well, booted up when I turned it on, went to install windows and now its turning on for 5 seconds then turning off, then turning on for 5 seconds and turning off and keep looping until I physically unplug it.

Read a few people have this same problem with this shuttle, so im guessing it not anything other than a shuttle problem.

All hardware is connected properly and correctly, restting the BIOS does nothing and nor does unplugging items incase it was lack of power.

Spec:
SP35P2
Q6600 G0
4GB OCZ 6400 (4x1GB)
Leadtek 8800GTS 640MB

Anyone got any ideas at all, as im all out?

Cheers for any help.

you sure its not lack of power i though shuttles come with little pwoer supplys like 300wats ?

I think this one comes with 400 Watts. Shuttles have very efficient PSU's and this particular model has been known to run with dual core and an 8800GTX in it without problems.

My only thought is that the Q6600 is causing problems. Do you have a spare C2D chip or know someone who does?

Are there any BIOS updates for this model of Shuttle yet?

take memory out just use one stick to try it,, try each stick may be one faulty ine just go through like that same as hard/dvd leave disconnected till you sort looping problem then connect as you go,, it may be fault like that, i have a sd27p2 and mine done similar changed memory and ok,, also it has q6600 and no probs but did do latest bios first.

regards

ahhh k :D well maybe power supply is okies :D and yep good point about he q6600 may need a bios update to support it

I cant run a BIOS update as i cant get it to stay on for longer than 5 seconds. Its wierd, I went through the windows setup for Vista, and when it said installing files it begun going nads up, so it hasnt done it from the get-go.

Yeah its a 400W PSU, which is supposedly over 80% efficient so should be alright, but ive got a spare PSU I could try but it means shorting another PSU onto the board.

I sent a message to Shuttle and got the following response:

as you can see on our Supportlist for SP35P2 Pro, your memory is not
supported by our Barebone:

http://global.shuttle.com/support_list03.jsp?PI=786

Please change your memory to a good memory brand, like Samsung or
Infineon. Or try at least to use only one memory module instead of two
in dual channel.

If this won't help, please try to start your system with only one memory
module first, and without hard discs and optical drives connected.

Now, he says the memory is nto supported in the supported list, but if you check what i bought (OCZ 6400 1GB sticks, code OCZ2P800R22GK) against their list then it clearly is supported on their site, hence my purchasing it. However, the stuff he tells me to buy, is not in their supported list, good start.

Im going home from uni now, so I will gut and try it again. Im hoping its just something simple, but its looking more like an RMA to me every minute.

Looks like im not the only one having this problem though, theres another lad HERE with exactly the same problem.
