Hi guys,

I am planning on putting a GTX 580 into my shuttle having sold the gtx 680 (didnt need the extra gaming power) but wanted to know if it will strain the system.

I am a total noob when it comes to PSU's and wattages and but I can see that the recommended PSU for a GTX 580 is 550 watts.

However, the shuttle I am using only has no dvd drive, one hdd and a few usbs connected to it so surely having a GTX 580 in there will be fine?

The 680 was fine and but I know the 580 uses a lot more power so would love to hear your thoughts on installing a 580 into the machine.

Thanks in advance!

The power supply recommendations are high so that even the cheepo PSU's from the republic of child labourers will run the cards.

if your worried have a look at this site and bash in your rigs details, notice the minimum and recommended wattages.

IMO you would be fine, but i cant find details for the 12V rail on your PSU, to be sure its 12V x amps on the GPU rail = max wattage if thats higher than the TPD of the card your ok
