Shuttle's For Gaming?

I'm looking to order a new build in the next few days, and still havn't completely decided what I'm going to go for - I've made countless setups in the basket

I have about £750 to spend, and ideally would like to get a monitor with it also - At the moment I have a 17" TFT that I've had for years.

I was wondering what barebone systems are like for gaming? I'm not planning on overclocking really (dont know the first thing about it), so would it be ok? Would the cooling be an issue with a hefty graphics card etc?

Any advice would be great.. Or any component suggestions.

Thanks.

Im aware this isn't a shuttle, but this is the build Im looking at currently:

Any suggestions?

Looks good enough to me. If you want a new monitor you could swap the quad for a E6750 and get yourself a nice 20" WS monitor :)

Do you think that would be worth it?

As in, will the Duo be fine for the next 6 months or so? So I can make use of a nice new monitor and get a Quad when it is needed - Which by that time would be cheaper anyway.

Ofcourse it will, not many games support quad core yet. I went for the E6750 due to the new penryn comming out soon (less wattage, native quad core). When the majority of games I play start support quad and I feel it is required to help game performance then I will upgrade to one :)

I would say stick with the quad, it should outlive the 6750, you will need a cooler though as you've opted for an OEM chip.

Also, if not overclocking, you could save quite a bit on the motherboard, just get the standard IP35 rather than the PRO...
or the even cheaper IP35-E

Cooling wont be an issue with that case running standard components.

tuniq tower or an arctic freezer 7 pro and clock the nuts off that chip, that's a good mobo so it'll go nice and high =]

I know the quad would out live it, however in 6 months I would upgrade to a quad. In those 6 months will I notice much difference having the 6750 instead of the Quad?

From what I understand not a lot supports Quad core yet anyway, and in 6 months I can only assume that they will be cheaper/faster/whatever anyway.

The reason for doing this would be so I can use that saved money to get a nice monitor, with no real performance hinderences (sp).

PSU will be fine, are you sure you want the antec 900 as a case, possibly have a look in case central for some other suggestions.

Assuming your still interested in the actual question asked, below is a spec with a Shuttle. The motherboard on the shuttle is a P35 chip so it is pretty well furture proofed for a few years to come.
