im building a PC in an attic (where it will be setup permanently) and want some kick*** air cooling with no noise limits,

was tempted by the SI-120 with a 120mm Delta, any idea what temps a Opteron 170 would run @ also with current stepping what clocks could i expect (24/7 stable ONLY)

With a delta I would expect it to run in the low 30's, but there are so many factors that affect it e.g. case temps and airflow. You may also want to consider the Big Typhoon coupled with a Delta, which has an all-copper base and heatpipes. I think that might offer better cooling than using the aluminium si-120 (bar the copper base).

Again, the above is all speculation, it's impossible to predict temps

I would be very surprised if you didnt hit 2.6, overclockers seem to have good steppings in stock. Someone with a 170 might want to give you a better idea, or flick through the offical 170 oc thread.

These CPUs run hot! Mine idles at 34/35C and reaches 45C both cores fully loaded.
I have some serious cooling with an Si120 and panaflow fan. 2 more 12cm panaflows front and back and an amber on the side. M/b temps are 32C, with an ambient of 24C.

The Ocuk steppings are all reaching 2.6 most can hit 2.8+++ at stock volts hence the price.

Hope this helps.

Matt

i have one on my xp-120. keeps my 3800+ X2 running at 2.8 @ 1.6v under full load @ mid/high 30's C

my non O/C'd 4400+ X2 runs @ 26/7 C under full load on the same cooling. cant beat a delta :D

have piccies on another thread as to what it looks like on my xp-120 :)

Top tip, use a shorud to mount the delta!!! 190CFM directly to go through the fins aint all that easy, i droped 5c off using a shroud on my p4 when benching with it, going to 4.2ghz on a delta. I got a delta here if ya need it
