Ok, Vista keeps crashing at random, reports are pointing to the memory being at fault. Ran memtest and got this,

would you say it's defo the memory?

i would yes... but as i did try running the test again with just one stick in at a time so u can isolate the dodgy stick..... still if an rma is needed will probably have to send both back but thats the way to make sure its def one of the ram sticks :)

Yeah I did repeat the test with each stick in turn but forgot to take pics. the results wee pretty similar, 1 fault on stick A and about 0 on stick B. Also with just stick B in the machine it was consantly re-booting before the welcome screen.

I have now started an RMA with Corsair, but having to send it off to the US is to be honest a PITA that I could do without, think I'll have to buy some other sticks to be getting on with.

Update, have recieved my RMA# from Corsair, now to buy some RAM for use in the mean-time and send this faulty stuff off.

lol, have bought some el-cheapo transcend jetram DDR2-800(2x1GB), with 5-6-6-18 timings for £27 and it's been 100% stable for the last 20 hours, passes orthos blend (3 hours before I decided to stop it to check my e-mails), passes memtest, runs perfect.

Gonna post off the corsair on monday, then when it comes back I'm gonna test that on it's own, then stick this cheap stuff in aswell and see how it runs with 4GB. Then when the warranty expires on the ceder mill 661 downstairs the cheap sticks can go and give that a boost.

Well the replacement sticks arrived today, stuck them in and ran memtest for a couple of loops and all is well.

Stuck the transcend sticks in on top for 4GB, and have managed to get them running at the same timings as the corsair (5-5-5-12), quite happy with that!

10 days from posting to them notifing of receipt, and they mailed me to say the replacement was on it's way 5 days ago.
