Sick to the back teeth of driver issues, everytime i update to anything released this year all of my text goes weird in games and on steam overlay chat. I also have problems with the pc crashing and its defo the card, i have the 5870 pcs++ so i think its clocked high by default, even downclocking it in ati overdrive doesnt fix it. What is there from nvidia comparable to this card?

What power supply are you using ?
 
have you tried using older drivers , i was on 10.3s for ages . the only reason i updated was to play cod 4 mp but it still didnt work lol
 
If it's definitely the card, why not RMA it? Computer hardware isn't infallible. Swapping to an nVidia card will do just as much good as RMAing your seemingly broken 5870 for a working one.
 
Have you tried swapping the pcie slot the card is in or trying a working card? You'll be gutted if you go through all this and find it was the motherboard after all.
