Hi guys my year old PSU seems to be acting up. About 6 weeks ago my PC was dead when i pressed the power button. I checked the power cable looked inside checked the cabling and memory was sitting properly and hit the power button again and it returned to life. Week later same thing happened and again it returned to life after a few cabling checking etc. Problem disappeared for a while 3rd time again the same but this time twice it powered up and shut itself down after 2 secs twice.Dead again today so i need to fix it any ideas? Its a Super Flower Golden Green HX 80Plus Gold - 750 Watt. Thanks.

ive got this problem too but i dont know if its my psu or my motherboard

if i waggle the atx connector on the mobo it shoots into life

try unplugging it and pushing it back in works for me for now

i dunno what to replace psu or mobo

thing is how many z77 boards area available

I was aware it could be a mobo problem as-well problem is can you actually tell which one it is? Don't want to spend cash on a relatively new PSU and find the issue persists.

ditto

and i wiggled my atx connector before while it was in place and pc shutdown :(

and i noticed my rear case fan wasnt spinning. pluuged into another point to test and it worked... plgged it back into its original and nothing. rebooted and hey presto all ok...

thing is im skint as .... may have to go finance and upgrade if all else fails

You can rule out certain things quite quickly. Firstly, the case button/wiring - disconnect the power button wire from the motherboard header and then short the 2 pins on the motherboard manually. If this works fine then you have a dodgy connection between the board and the button on the case.

Secondly, disconnect everything from the PSU other than a fan - then carefully short any green and black wire on the 24pin ATX connector on the PSU. If the fan spins reliably after a few goes, almost certainly not the PSU.

well got up this morning and zero. nothing happend..
waggled the atx connector and it started for about 1/2 second
and wouldnt start at all

unplugged the atx connector and plugged it back in and nowt, tried again and it started
