Created by the driver of the world’s quickest street car, Tom Bailey, Sick Week 2023 Presented By Gear Vendors will feature the highest quality field of drag-and-drive cars ever assembled on the quarter-mile. Along for the ride will be a further 250 participants in the Sick Ward, who will be tagging along for the Florida cruising and pit shows.

The first Sick Week, held in 2022, was an extraordinary success. The event was rated highly by competitors, spectators and online viewers, and established itself as a must-attend. Participants particularly enjoyed the social nature of the checkpoints, the spectacular drives and the focus on track preparation, allowing them to set new drag-and-drive records.

Similar to HOT ROD Drag Week, the event visits four different tracks over the five days of competition. There are some things that separate Sick Week from Drag Week though, with extra classes and competitions.

February 12 - Registration and Testing, Orlando Speedworld
February 13 - Day One, Orlando Speedworld
February 14 - Day Two, Bradenton Motorsports Park
February 15 - Day Three, South Georgia Motorsports Park
February 16 - Day Four, Gainesville Raceway
February 17 - Day Five, Orlando Speedworld

Looking on the instas it seems like some pretty serious metal is planning on showing up :)

Day One Livesteam - Orlando Speedworld

Dont know how many times i have considered grabbing a flight out to the US, a hire car and follow the drivers to the events. I think the Rocky Mountain Race Week would be my preference though after seeing some of the scenery that Cleetus filmed over the last couple of years. I might get round to doing it one year.

I did actually completely forgot that OSW actually has a drag strip. I tend to only see the skid pan and the oval on Adam LZ channel.

Oof.

Thankfully it doesn't happen often at these events but that's a big one to walk away from. You never want to test all the effort you put into your safety equipment but absolutely worth it every time.

One of the biggest ones I've seen since Magnus Frost stuck the Opel Ascona into the wall Day 2 of Drag Week 2019.

Agreed. It's a real shame when you have to put that engineering and equipment to the test but accidents like this show just how essential it is!

Yeah, saw that earlier, happened kinda late track (he talked about the converter locking up) so presumably up near the 200mph mark in that thing, scary! For him to walk away without a scratch (I believe) is really impressive on the design/building of the cage etc.

Day 2 Livestream - Bradenton Motorsports Park

***edit***

Stefan Gustafsson's just gone down in his 'vette quick enough to blow his own door off  6.43 @ 218!

***edit 2***

Gotta hand it to the people running the track, their prep game is on point today. Some serious times being set.

Not been watching the livestream but instead watching the individual videos like Steve Morris, Cleetus and a few others. Shame to see Tom out of his own event, again, it was amusing to see him unhappy with his 6.24 after the first day though :p

Also Steve doing 6.6x iirc with no 2nd gear cause why not...

EDIT: Just checked the results, both Unlimited and Unlimited Iron looks super close at the top!

I caught that whilst watching a bit of a livestream, looked really nasty, worse then Schroeders with the way it left the track and caught fire, then obviously him not getting out/them waiting before extracting him I was kinda expecting worse than that list of injuries really... Glad he's mostly ok.

Looks like Cleetus and Jackstand are out, alongside Steve Morris and Tom Bailey. That just leaves KSR and Alex Taylor as the YouTubers I watch/follow still in :p

I wasn't expecting to see another case of safety equipment being tested this week. Ouch! Leaving the track is never wanted but thankfully happened in the run off area without much in the way of track furniture.

I wonder if Cleetus starting and then running his engine for 30 seconds without oil had some bearing on the engine failure.

Wouldn't exactly be a surprise if that was the case :p I only watch YT so not seen anything yet other than seeing on the results that he's out, but yeah if it's engine failure the oil might just have something to do with it, shock as Cleetus kills something else by being stupid

I agree, but then that's kinda some of the entertainment of him being him basically :p

Just watched his video about the blow up, not much information other than something said nope and exited stage left. Apparently he'd run it a few times without oil before, nothing like learning from past mistakes  But he did also 'defend' Steve Morris Engines and Pete (the 'tuner' now) and accepted blame for whatever caused it at least.

Interesting to see him chat with Steve Morris about maybe getting an SMX, Mullet with an SMX could be pretty quick...

Back to Sick Week, checked the results again and good to see Alex Taylor keep up the 6's at Gainsville, pretty huge achievement if she/the car gets another 6 today. Kevin Smith looks to be going ok still as well.
