Before anyone says its rubbish blah blah I actually enjoy it :) ok its a bit nurdy but all the same.

Anyway i had it on dvd rom but bought it on the steam sale thinking it would be fixed but im still getting crashes

been reading around and seems it can be fixed with a cracked/fixed exe along with some editing but the question is do I risk getting my steam account banned for editing the exe files etc?

I guess I could uninstall the steam version and try and dig out my dvd version and try it on that first

hi brad, i have used the fixed exe with the steam version since i bought it in the sale last week, works fine

cool can you by anychance link me to the one you used? i cant understand why steam dont patch it themselves.....

spose it is old

I must say since changing from XP to Windows 7, the crashes don't happen anymore. Previously, they only occured when laying very long stretches of track. If I kept the tracks short and did one segment at a time, the game ran fine.

Hmmm mine can play fine sometimes for a few mins others a hour no problem think from what I've read its something to do with large amounts of ram

With the DVD version and Win7 ( and viast before it ) the game would crash randonly.

However with the Steam version i havent had a single crash at all.

hmmmm, seems to happen more in single player mode, its only crashed once in mp which is another odd thing

You do know that steam bans happened on a delayed system? Not that I think it will matter in this case. Just thought I would mention it :)

I love RT3 myself, bought on steam as i had an old version. I pray each night for a RT4 with modern gfx!!!!!! :)

Can you confirm whether this works under Vista? I was absolutely gutted after both the desktop (rebuilt with new o/s) and laptop (Vista installed when new) couldn't run the boxed Platinum edition.

And +1 on the request for RT4. Railroads was a poor imitation, A Train 8 leaves me scratching my head and the popularity of the train driving/construction sandbox titles mean a new railroad/transport strategy title would sell like hot cakes.

Drop me a mail and i will send the config file that you need to add to the data folder.

Had a reply back from steam :)
